Literature Text

It was an exiting day at the Wammy's House academy. Why? Because the reason for it's existence was addressing the oh so eager students. It was another L interview session. As much as I enjoyed hearing that familiar, synthetic voice, It always baffled me that the other students - the ones in training to become him, no less - had such ridiculous questions. I could list some, but I'd rather not at the moment. It's just too pathetic. I was sitting on the windowsill, gazing blankly at the landscape while I listened, slowly pushing the ice cubes around in my glass.

"Kathryn, pay attention," one of the teachers hissed. I scowled up at him, as I'd explained it to him a thousand times...

"Saying that implies that we become deaf as soon as we close our eyes," I said, not even trying to keep my tone of "you're an idiot" out of my voice. "Don't assume I'm not listening just because I'm looking somewhere else."

He simply sighed and turned back to the laptop everyone else was focused on. When will they understand?

A few minutes passed, in which more pointless questions were asked, and I quickly grew bored. It was the same patters during these interviews. Different students, the same questions.

"L, I have a question."

I glanced back now, actually interested. Nate. He may be an arrogant twerp, but he's smart. I'll give him credit where credit is due. After all, he's almost tied with me when it comes to grades. Almost.

"What is the most difficult part about your current investigation?" Hmm. I had actually been wondering that myself.

"Well, our number one suspect is actually the son of the leader of the Task Force," L said. I stared at the calligraphic letter on the screen with rapt attention now. Was he serious? "I had surveillance on him for several days without any evidence being revealed, and I have him under twenty-four hour supervision now, but we still are not getting any leads. I am not quite sure how, but I am convinced that he is Kira. The percentage is too high for me to doubt my suspicions. That, and he seems almost...too innocent."

So, this little investigation had turned into a dangerous game of cat and mouse. Dangerous for the mouse, obviously, but...could it be dangerous for the cat as well? Exactly how cunning was this mouse?

It was at that moment that I made up my mind. L needed my help on this investigation.
I know it's a short start, but I'll have the rest up pretty soon, so don't fret. Help me with the title.
